The "Power 6" ... Ravin Ward, Taylor Stowers, Devin Toa, Hope Stowers, Azia Serrano, Chrissy Lyons with Unko Don Yoder on the ukulele!... Thank you for cheering them on as they represented our community at Lokahi Foundation's Annual Ho'olaulea at Chief Leschi in Puyallup...

Our information booth did well in helping our huaka'i to Hawaii ... it got the word out and for that we are extremely grateful.

Special MAHALO's to our Auntie Pueo for her kokua in coordinating the whole function and her time and love ... Me ke aloha pumehana ...

Most importantly, the girls fed off of the cheerleaders in the stands... THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT... A HUI HO!!!

Restaurant Takeover - Fundraiser

WINGER'S GRILL & BAR in Tacoma, WA... SAT, SEPTEMBER 25th, 2010

just another way we are raising money to get to Hawaii so many of you SHOWED YOUR LOVE ... and all the support we asked for was that you enjoy a meal with us...

Winger's staff and kitchen were so friendly and hard working... They made this an easy fundraiser because the food was sooo good!! We chanted in the kitchen, "KITCHEN CREW, WE LOVE U" and they answered back every time, "WE LOVE U TOO" .. lol ...

The greatest joy was watching our girls interact with staff and customers. They were gracious and fast moving ... MAHALO WINGER'S not only for the money making opportunity but more importantly, for teamwork, experience and fun! All the makings of true OHANA ...

Our mission & purpose:

As we perpetuate the Polynesian culture, a new one emerges.

It includes all peoples, regardless of race, gender, age, financial status or religion and raises awareness of service opportunities local and abroad.

Our mission is to perpetuate the Polynesian culture by supporting education, learning and sharing the Polynesian culture, and serving the community.

We are a non-profit organization recognized in the state of Washington.

Our efforts include the following:

support education

1. by tutoring/ mentoring/ promoting literacy, math and science.

2. by setting academic and behavioral standards and hold Polynesian dance class students accountable at school through positive reinforcement, i.e. Students that do not meet academic standards [2.0 GPA w/no D's or F's] may not perform with the group outside of class.

serve community, share & perpetuate the polynesian culture

1. by donating performances to retirement homes, senior citizen groups, and cultural events.

2. by hosting guest speakers/cultural experts and sponsoring workshops/special performances at low and no cost to the community.

3. by strengthening our ties with the land through community clean-ups and service projects.

It is for these reasons that Heimana Production WA now seeks 501(c)(3) non-profit tax status.

Our Heritage

"Su'apa'ia Samoan South Sea Show." Under the direction of great grand uncle Kipeni Su'apa'ia in the 1960's, the pictured group (and more) performed all over Southern California. From this, performers like Al Harrington of "Hawaii 5-0" and world reknown Tahitian group, Nonosina. We share deep roots in Oahu, HI at Laie's Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) where many family members took part in its opening days and still today. With cousins sharing our heritage in California, Hawaii, Nevada & Utah, we join them here in Washington state to share our hula, our mafaufauga, our heimana!

CLASS

Our focus:
The songs & dances we study and perform specifically come from Hawaii, Samoa, Tokelau, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti and the Cook Islands.

Classes:
Classes are held at the
Steilacoom Community Center
All students are encouraged and welcome to watch and practice with each class. The majority of our students are children but adults are welcome to come and practice. An adult class will be generated based on interest and consistent attendance: 10 adults attending 4 months straight will generate an adult class.

FRIDAYS @ 4:30 pm - intended for beginner students, age 10 and younger.

Enrollment for this session is FREE because of a grant from the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation!

NOTE for beginner level children (age 8 and under): enrollment of accompanying adult is recommended. It has been my experience that younger children learn better WITH their accompanying adult, be it mom, dad, aunties, uncles, grandparent, etc.

Monthly fees are
made payable to "Town of Steilacoom"
at the Steilacoom Community Center's reception window
by the 10th of the month with late charges thereaft.

Costume, material & implement costs are NOT included in the monthly fee.
